The 2014 $200 1 oz. Howling Wolf gold coin is the first in the three-coin ‘Call of the Wild’ gold coin series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. Crafted from 99.999% pure gold, this coin is packaged inside a capsule embedded into a striking assay card. This coin incorporates the same micro-etched nested maple leaf security mark found on the 2014 Gold Maple Leaf and Silver Maple Leaf showing the number “14”.
The obverse of this coin displays the Susanna Blunt portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscribed along the bottom rim, lists the weight, purity and face value. Designed by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc the reverse of the coin presents a profile portrait of a howling wolf backed by lines representing the wolf’s howl. The $200 denomination of this coin is the highest face value of any 1 oz gold bullion coin in the world and with a fineness of 99.999% pure gold, this coin is a favorite amongst both collectors and investors.
