Thomas Edison, who first patented and marketed the incandescent light bulb, has inspired this brand new coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. This 2018 1oz Silver Thomas Edison Light Bulb Privy Mark Maple Leaf Coin is struck in 99.99% pure silver with a unique reverse proof finish. The coin also features the RCM’s new MINTSHIELD surface protection to reduce the occurrence of white spots.
The reverse design features the bullion coin’s iconic Silver Maple Leaf in a Reverse Proof finish. Beneath it to the left, the privy mark electric light bulb, commemorating Thomas Edison’s patent of the incandescent light bulb. The obverse features the iconic effigy of HRM Queen Elizabeth II along with the date ‘2018’ and a face value of $5 which is the highest denomination made available on a 1oz silver bullion coin.
