The 2015 Canadian Silver Bison 1.25 tr oz coin in .9999 pure silver is the first coin created in 1.25 troy ounces by the Royal Canadian Mint and has a face value of $8. The reverse side of the coin depicts a large North American Bison galloping throughout the open plains of Canada. Stamped below the Bison is the silver purity of ‘‘9999’’ and ‘’Fine Silver 1 1/4 OZ Argent Pur’’. Above the Bison it reads ‘’Canada 2015’’. The obverse side of the coin features Susanna Blunt’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with inscriptions of ‘’Elizabeth II’’, ‘’D.G. Regina’’, and the face value of the $8.
In order to combat against counterfeiting, repeating radial lines appear on both sides of the coin. On the reverse side, an additional security feature in the shape of a maple leaf is listed below the bison. When viewed under magnification you will be able to see, the year of minting inside the leaf.
