With a low mintage of just 63,644 coins, The Perth Mint’s Australian Lunar Series I celebrates the Year of the Rabbit in 1999, the first release in the 12 Lunar coin series. Each coin has a fineness of 99.9% pure silver, and is protected in a plastic capsules. The reverse of each coin depicts a rabbit sitting back looking upward with tall grass surounding. The Chinese character for ‘Rabbit’ and the inscription "2 oz 999 Silver" also appear in the design.
