As Canada began preparation for the 2010 Winter Games, The Royal Canadian Mint's world-renowned gold and silver maple leaf bullion coins became a fitting medium to celebrate the powerful symbolism of these events. A historic agreement with the international Olympic Committee produced three ground-breaking bullion coins showcasing Canada's defining winter sports, its rich Indigenous culture and the pride of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic winter games.

This set includes three uniquely designed coins featuring an ice hockey player in full stride, a stylized maple leaf alongside the VANOC logo and a thunderbird. These numismatic reproductions of the bullion coins are in a brilliant finish and are 99.99 fine gold with selective RED enamel. Each coin weighs 31.1035 grams with the diameter of 30 mm. The obverse features the effigy of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
