The Canadian Silver Bison 1.25 tr oz coin in .9999 pure silver is the first coin created in 1.25 troy ounces by the Royal Canadian Mint and has a face value of $8. The reverse side of the coin depicts a large North American Bison galloping throughout the open plains of Canada. Stamped below the Bison is the silver purity of ‘‘9999’’ and ‘’Fine Silver 1 1/4 OZ Argent Pur’’. The obverse side of the coin features Susanna Blunt’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with inscriptions of ‘’Elizabeth II’’, ‘’D.G. Regina’’, and the face value of the $8.

In order to combat against counterfeiting, repeating radial lines appear on both sides of the coin. On the reverse side, an additional security feature in the shape of a maple leaf is listed below the bison. When viewed under magnification you will be able to see, the year of minting inside the leaf.
