Description
The Perth Mint’s Australian Lunar Series II celebrates the Year of the Dog in 2018, the eleventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Each coin has a new fineness of 99.99% pure silver, and is protected in a plastic capsules.The reverse of each coin depicts a German shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Shown on the obverse of the coin, is the Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Each coin is individually encapsulated to maintain its striking condition.
